We will be holding our annual Buccaneers Registration Day on Saturday, March 19, at the Leaside Pub (our club sponsor), 190 Laird Drive, Toronto. The Bucs executive team will be at the pub from 10 am until 6 pm to meet and greet current and new members, and take care of your online registration.
Our registration day co-incides with the final day of the 6 Nations Championship. The Leaside Pub will be showing all three international rugby matches live;
- Wales vs. Italy 10:30 am,
- Ireland vs. Scotland 1:00 pm, and
- France vs. England 4:00 pm
The broadcaster of the rugby games charges a $20 cover as it’s a pay-per-view event. The $20 covers all three games. If you just want to drop in to register and not watch the any of the games, you don’t have to pay! Just let them know you’re there to register with the Bucs only when you walk in.
How much are dues?
$250 for 18 & 19 year old, and any college or university students.
$390 for all other senior men players.
You can pay in cash, or cheque (made payable to Toronto Buccaneers RFC), or via credit card.
What do I get with my dues?
To be allowed to play in our rugby league, including to be allowed to play any pre-season games, you must be a registered player. Our first exhibition game is April 16.
Rugby Canada provides critical injury insurance for each player.
The club provides team rugby socks, a Bucs golf shirt, and a Bucs reversible ‘pro-fit’ training jersey.
Your dues pay for our outdoor field space (we practice twice a week), league registration for each team, equipment, referee fees, athletic trainers for each game, medical equipment, etc.
The Buccaneers are a not-for-profit club and actively seek outside club sponsorship to help with club costs and keep fees down for our members.
Extra Goodies on Saturday!
The club will be giving out a very special Buccaneers 40th Anniversary t-shirt for any registered member who comes by the Leaside Pub on March 19.
Also – if you register on or before March 19 you will receive an entry for a raffle for a pair of Leaf tickets for a 7 pm game that Saturday, March 19! The draw will be held at 3:30 pm on March 19 at the pub, and the winner will also get $50 cash for a cab to the game (or whatever you wish to spend it on!).
If you refer a new member to the club who registers on or before March 19, you’ll get an extra 3 entries into the raffle!
Recruitment is a season-long commitment, so there will be other raffles announced throughout the season for those who continue to bring friends into the club! Director of Recruitment Greg ‘Slurry’ DeVilliers will have details to follow!
Lastly, the Leaside Pub has offered a free drink for every new member who comes by the pub on Saturday March 19.
Can I register any other time?
YES! You can register any time throughout the season. You can do it online on your own via credit card, or pay the club your dues if you’re paying by cash or cheque. But remember, you must be registered to be eligible to play in any rugby games.
