2024 Virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) – Sunday Dec 15, 2024
The Buccaneers Executive Committee would like to invite you to our club’s 2024 Annual General Meeting (AGM), Sunday Dec 15, 2024 at 10:30AM. This year AGM will be hosted virtually on Microsoft Teams.
The AGM is where the club’s Executive Team has a chance to discuss all our club businesses with its members and give you a retrospective on the past year. The Executive Committee is then elected to run every aspect of our club, including finances, sponsorships, fundraising, on field performances, social events and club growth. We have much to celebrate and discuss as a club and we would love to see all of our registered members attending.
The meeting will be chaired by Club President Richard Williams. As club members, you have voting rights at this meeting. Anyone who was a registered member of the club for the 2024 and in good standing can vote at the AGM. This including playing members such as senior men’s, senior men’s university students, masters/old boys and U16/U18 juniors, as well as non-playing social members in good standing and lifetime Hall Of Fame members.
Positions labelled vacant will be NOT be contested by the incumbent member, otherwise the existing executive member HAS decided to seek re-election.
Here is the list of all the positions available and current holders seeking re-election or vacancy when applicable:
- VP Senior Men’s Rugby² – vacant (incumbent: Dan Briggs)
Responsible for senior men’s rugby matters such as fixtures, coaching, performance, player feedback, etc. - Director of Recruitment¹ – vacant (incumbent: Kyle Watkinson)
Responsible for outreach and recruitment to prospective players. - Director of Social Events¹ – Joshua Jacobs
Responsible for proposing, organizing and hosting social events. - Director of Funding¹ – vacant (incumbent: Brian Kennedy)
Responsible for outreach to potential sponsors, as well as applying to grants. - Director of Mini’s Rugby¹ – vacant
Responsible for mini’s rugby matters such as practices, coaching, registrations, communication with parents, etc. - Director of Communications¹ – vacant (incumbent: Viktor Zhou)
Responsible for maintaining club communications via email, social media and website. - Kit Manager¹ – vacant (incumbent: Alex Miles)
Responsible for managing kit inventory, coordinating jerseys, and ordering new kit. - Secretary ¹- vacant (incumbent: Leo Sauvaget)
Responsible for chairing monthly executive meetings, the annual AGM and administrative work.
Positions NOT open for election (due to 2 year term):
- President² – Richard Williams
- Treasurer² – Dean Spencer
- VP Junior’s Rugby² – Sultan Butt
1- Director positions have a one-year commitment
2- Vice-president positions have a two-year commitment
In order to run for a position, you require a nominator and a seconder (one other person that is a club member that agrees to put your name forward). A member can nominate themselves. A non-member cannot be nominated for a position. All players are members, as well as non-playing members in good standing.
Nominations can be sent via email with the name of their seconder to the Club President Richard Williams at president@buccaneersrugby.com no later than Friday December 13 2024 11:50PM.
If we don’t have any nominations for a position, nominations will also be taken live during the AGM.
If current executive members run for re-election in their current positions and if there are no other nominees to their position, they will automatically be re-elected.
If you are unable to attend the AGM, you can proxy your vote, giving another attending member the ability to vote on your behalf. Please notify us of your proxy voter via email to to the Club President Richard Williams at president@buccaneersrugby.com no later than Friday December 13 2024 11:50PM.
The agenda for the AGM will be shared in a separate communication before the AGM.
