The Bucs celebrated their 40th anniversary, and completion of their inaugural season in the TRU A division, with their annual President’s Day grudge match.  The President’s XV retained the cup with a 50 – 35 win over the Captain’s XV.

The Buccaneers were proud to present the first annual Breen Carson Hero Award, presented to the President’s Day match MVP.   The award is in honour of our late rugby brother, and decorated veteran of the Canadian Armed Services, Captain Breen Carson.  Breen was a true hero in every sense of the word, and the Bucs take great pride in honouring him.  This year’s recipient went to Kris Bacalla who had a stand out performance for the President’s XV (pictured with the President’s Cup).

The Buccaneers were also happy to recognize this year’s M.V.P. – William Viljoen, at President’s Day.  Normally an award that’s handed out at the Bucs Banquet (November 19), however, William is returning back home to South Africa before then.  William had an exceptional season with the Buccaneers this past season as first team centre.  He was a feared tackler, and even more dangerous with ball in hand.  William, and team mate and fellow SA traveller, William Lambrechts made a massive impact on the club this season.  We all look forward to their return for 2017.
