BUCS ROUT BAY ST.
The Buccaneers RFC ran in a season-high eight tries against Bay Street RFC for a big win on Saturday June 27. It was Bay St. who would strike first in the match with a penalty kick, to lead the match 3 – 0. However it was all Bucs after that point scoring three tries in the first half, and five more in the second. The Bucs would have had one more 5 pointer, however Tyson Staples, one of the Bucs speed-merchant wings, ran through the end zone, inciting cries of 'run Forest, run!' from his teammates. Final score 56 – 3. Bucs' coach Peter Towill was very pleased with the team effort, as well as being able to bring on all seven Bucs subs who all performed well. Credit must be given to Bay Street who never backed down throughout 80 minutes and were committed to attacking rugby until the final whistle.
Man of the Match: Bucs flanker Paul 'Colesy' Collins earned this week's honours. Paul was all over the pitch, making big tackles and securing ball possession, as well as running in a fine try. Honourable mentions must made of fly-half and captain Simon Cooper who converted all eight tries, and, fullback Aaron Barber who ran in a whopping four tries of his own.
Tries: Barber (4), James Phillips, Paul Collins, Jared Cox and Gideon Haasbroek.
Converts: Cooper (8)
