JAM & MARMALADE TOUR TO KINGSTON
A fine blend of mature and youthful Bucc’s toured Kingston on the first weekend of October, the tourists spanned many years of Buccaneers teams with even some of the original team members on board to present day players.
We were hosted by the Kingston Panther’s RFC and played a round robin tournament against the Panthers and The Royal Military College of Canada at the RMC pitches.
The Bucc’s captained by Chris “Killer” Duggan faired poorly in the first fixture of the day against a very strong Panthers first team squad, a mixture of pineapple rum, beer and too many duck calls prevailed in the Bucc’s slow start and even slower finish.
The second fixture against the RMC was a very tight run affair with the Bucc’s running in two great tries in a very spirited performance, with one try from Jared Cox that pleased the supporters on the side line as a lot of the tourists had played with Cox senior when he was also a Bucc. Chris Duggan and Paul Collins played very hard and made plenty of head way with ball in hand leading the way for the rest of the team, but unfortunately we were beaten by a kick. (I think)
A big thanks to the Kiwi cobbers and Coxy who travelled on game day to boost our numbers.
In true Buccaneer tradition we beat both teams in the RMC bar with remarkable displays of pizza eating, beer drinking, fine singing and making no friends along the way.
The festivities carried on into the late Sunday night after disembarking from the train.
Thanks to everyone who attended, here’s to the next one.
Ohh noo!
