Buccs Lose at Home

The Buccs took home field for only the 2nd time this season against the North Simcoe Dingoes on Saturday June 12th. In very wet conditions, and severely under manned yet again, the Buccs tried for their first win of the season.

Buccs 2 started out very shaky ending the half down 32-0.The 2nd half told a different story however with Buccs 2 out scoring their opponents 2 trys to 1 for a final result of 37-10. The Buccs 2 had a very strong second half and played the ball extremely well in the pack, dominating the ball late in the game. Unfortunately it was still not enough to overcome a determined young and talented squad from Orillia. Both Buccs trys were scored by Duane Farrell who played full minutes in both games, while man of the match honours went to Wesley Gee who filled in at Hooker for the first time in many years.

Buccs 1 took the field with tired legs, due to many having already playing a full 80 minutes of rugby. Fatigue showed and the game quickly turned into a one sided affair on the scoreboard with Buccs 1 ultimately losing 62-0. Although the Buccs1 lost the game they showed great commitment to the team with their willingness to play in 2 games, and though always being down never giving up. Buccs 1 played hard throughout the entire game, and the score did not accurately represent the effort put forward by the team. Man of the match honours went to Duane Farrell for his consistent play at both ends of the field for a full 160 minutes.

Next week Buccs 1 and 2 have a by week and will take the time to rest up and train for their annual “Pink Ladies Day” vs. the Yeomen at Sunnybrook park on Saturday June 26th. We hope to see you all there with your friends and family.
