MESSAGE FROM THE PREZ
Buccaneers,
There were two hard fought games last Saturday against North Halton 1st and 2nd teams. Thanks goes out to all the Buccaneers who made the trip to Georgetown and either played in the games, or were there to show their support.
There were a lot of new faces on the seconds team, and players playing new positions, so even though it was a tough loss against a solid Highlander team, the Bucs played hard for a full 80 minutes. Rookie Buccaneer Brent Dacey earned Man-of-the-Match.
The Bucs first team earned a solid win over the Highlanders, scoring 7 tries in the process. There were a lot of highlights from the match, but a push over try scored from a set piece scrum was particularly memorable (the Bucs second scrum push over try in as many games). Man-of-the-Match honours went to another Bucs rookie, William Kim.
Congratulations to new club members who played their first league game as a Buccaneer; Chris Burt, Brent Dacey, Richard Heery, Aiden Smyth, Kyle Symonds, and Chad Thibeault!
There are TWO big rugby games this Saturday, July 12 at our home pitch at Sunnybrook Park. Buccaneers II vs. Etobicoke Invictus @ 1:30 pm, and Buccaneers I vs. Cobourg Saxons @ 3:00 pm.
July 12 is the Buccaneers Annual PINK LADIES DAY – a rugby day dedicated to raising funds for Re-think Breast Cancer foundation. Buccaneers are encouraged to bring their wives, girlfriends, family, etc. out to the matches, and, back to the Leaside Pub where we hold a ton of raffles and auctions for charitable fundraising.
I encourage all members to do their best to make it out to practice and take advantage of the training sessions Buccaneers head coach Drew MacPherson has planned for our club.
Cheers,
The Prez
