Saturday, November 8 is our upcoming annual President’s Day! Without hyperbole, I can safely tell you President’s Day is like a thousand Christmases rolled into one epic day of fun Bucs rugby.

For those new to the club, what is President’s Day you might ask? It’s a full day of rugby, drink and merriment to celebrate our 2014 season and relish in the glory of what was an excellent season.

What’s on tap for the day?

All Buccaneers, future Bucs, alumni and friends, assemble at Leaside Pub (190 Laird Ave.) for 9 am to watch the All Blacks vs. England (9:30 am kickoff), followed by South Africa vs. Ireland (12:30 pm kick off). Wales vs Australia, Scotland vs. Argentina and France vs. Fiji will be replayed in the afternoon/evening. There is a $20 cover charge for all games that Setanta Sports charges (not Leaside) as they consider the rugby games a ‘pay per view’ event.

Around 2 pm we head off to a nearby rugby pitch to play an inter-squad rugby match of PRESIDENT’S XV vs. CAPTAIN’S XV. The match is for the coveted President’s Cup trophy, which has been handed out for the past 15 years, and is celebrated well into the evening by the winning side (and often the losing side too). Make sure you bring a silly hat to wear for the match – and the answer is ‘no’ Dan, you cannot wear your helmet….

AFTER the match we all head back to the Leaside Pub to continue celebrations, watch some more international rugby, and present the 2014 season club member Awards of Distinction. There will also be a special presentation to Leaside Pub owner, and Bucs supporter, Param.
