BUCCANEERS IN THE ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE!
We are inviting EVERYONE from the Jr’s, Sr’s, family, supporters and Alumni to join us in participating in the biggest Public Relations showing that the Toronto Buccaneers Rugby Club? has participated in in recent history.
The St Patrick’s Day Parade is an annual parade to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. It’s only a matter of time that this becomes a bank holiday with the rate that the Buccs keep importing Irish talent – so it’s great that we’re getting in on the ground level. We are the ONLY rugby club in the parade and we are going to leverage this as a PR / Marketing and recruitment event. As with any Buccs event, it’ll likely turn into a social event afterwards.
Updates will come via email but so we can get a feel for numbers, please also respond to the Facebook group
The parade starts at noon at St George and Bloor. The Parade line up assembles down St George in designated area’s. We are in section B (in case you are late and need to ask someone where you’re headed). We will meet at the intersection of ST GEORGE AND HOSKIN AVENUE BETWEEN 10.00AM – 10.30AM. This is just south of St George Station on the Bloor / Danforth Subway line. Everyone is encouraged to take the TTC as parking will be extremely limited and the roads are shutting down along the parade route as early as 8:30 AM.
The Parade begins at Bloor and St George, runs east along Bloor to Yonge, South on Yonge to Queen, West on Queen to University, and disperses on Armory Street just West of Nathan Phillips Square at City Hall.
The rules are pretty basic, if we are giving things to the crowd they would prefer we hand them out as opposed to launching them for safety.
Whoever is carrying our Buccaneers flag needs to be aware of the protocol:
All flags, with the exception of the Canadian flag, must be dipped slightly when passing the review stand.
Let’s ensure that everyone is wearing their Buccs hoodie/golf shirts, who has them; we will also hand out Jerseys at the starting point for everyone to wear. We really want to see a sea of Blue/white shirts. This goes for family, friends and supporters too wherever possible.
After the parade, we’ll likely attend a pub / restaurant to follow. Location TBD and we’ll email and update the Facebook page once we land on the appropriate location.
We are really excited about this and think it is going to be a great thing for our club, something that we will be able to repeat and make an annual thing. A very special thank you to Simon Cooper? for being able to put this together.
Go Bucs!
