July – Pink Ladies Day 2023 Recap

Thank you for all players, family and friends for coming out last Saturday for Pink Ladies Day. Even though we lost two hard fought matches against Bay Street, we still managed to have a great turnout.

Thank you to all players for their pink sock donation fees, thanks to everyone who bough a PLD, tshirt, drinks and snacks. And thanks for all of those who came to The Leaside Pub afterwards for the awesome raffle (including Toronto Raptors tickets!!) and social. Our club is happy to announced that we managed to raise and donate $2500 to Rethink Breast Cancer!!! We are extremely proud of our Buccaneers friends & family to the support and we are already looking forward to PLD 2024.

Social Memberships

This is a friendly reminder to all old boys, alumni, family and friends to please support the club, if you can, by signing up for a Social Membership! With a $150 Social Membership, you will get a voting right to our annual AGM, an early invite to our socials/events, and will be one of the first to be notified of all club news. With the rising costs of field rentals in the city of Toronto, the cost of gear (shorts ,polos, rugby equipment), and everything else, this critical financial support is much appreciated!

August – TRU Playoffs

The Buccaneers 1XV and 2XVs wrapped up their final regular season game against the Pigs on PLD. Our club managed to squeeze in as the 8th seed in the TRU A Keenan league, and thus will be joining the TRU Plate Playoffs (between 5th through 8th seed). Our first playoff game was on Saturday July 29th away at Brock RFC. Our 2XV defeated Brock in their best game yet this season, however our 1XV fell after a hard fought game. Our final playoff game will be on Saturday August 12th away at The Toronto Dragons.

Saturday August 12th – Buccs Yuk Comedy Night

Attention all Buccaneers! Please join us on Saturday, August 12th for our first-ever comedy extravaganza – Bucc Yuks! Following our final day of Playoffs, we have an amazing rooftop event planned with 3 incredible comedians, BBQing, Bar crawls and more!

Patio doors open at 8:30pm at 571 College Street, Toronto. Following the show attendees will take to the streets for a bar crawl around little Italy.

Tickets are $30 and include access to the rooftop show, food and non-alcoholic refreshments. There will be a cash bar on-site as well. Please email joshjacobs047@gmail.com for tickets quickly as tickets are limited!

September 9th – Toronto Buccaneers 3rd Annual Golf Tournament

Please pencil off Saturday September 9th 2023 for our third annual golf tournament returning to the 4 Seasons Country Club in Pickering! This our biggest annual fundraiser, and we are hopping to have more than 100+ golfers out this year! Tee times will starting in the morning through to the afternoon. Afterwards, we’ll be heading back to The Leaside Pub to catch the first weekend of the Rugby World Cup 2023! More detailed will be sent out, but please save the date for now!

September/October 2023 – TRU Fall Cup Rugby

The Buccaneers will be back after a brief break to take part of the TRU Fall Cup running from September to October this year. Teams, schedules and games are still being determined, but get ready for a few more games before the end of our 2023 season. To all players who are interested, please reach out in the WhatsApp group and to Coach Rob so we have an idea of numbers.

October – President’s Day 2023

It is still very early, but the greatest day of the year is scheduled for Saturday October 28th. We’ll be playing our traditional President’s Day game early in the afternoon so we can retire back to The Leaside Pub to catch the Rugby World Cup 2023 finale. Save the date and we hope to see all Buccaneers out of President’s Day.

November – Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner 2023

And this is way too early, but our annual HoF and Awards dinner will be in November this year! More details to follow!
