UPCOMING RUGBY & RETURN OF HEAD COACH DREW MACPHERSON
Buccaneers,
Congratulations to the Buccaneers 2nd team who had their first official league win this past Saturday! The Buccaneers 2nd team next game is Saturday July 5 versus North Halton Highlanders, in Georgetown, at 1:30 pm. The Bucs 1st team play immediately after at 3 pm. North Halton always provide a great match against the Bucs and we need as many players as possible available to field two strong teams.
Exciting news for our club as our men’s head coach, Drew MacPherson, will be returning to the club at the beginning of July to resume coaching duties. Drew, with assistance from coach Kevin Elder, will be building off our success thus far and taking us to the next level. Our Buccaneers club plans to play for two league championships at the end of August, as expectations are high for both our 1st and 2nd men’s teams.
Drew is an NCCP Level 3 Rugby Coach, an IRB Certified Rugby Coach Instructor and Assessor, and has been twice awarded Rugby Ontario Coach of the Year (2003 & 2006).
With big games against North Halton on Saturday July 5, we’d like to have two full practices with Drew beforehand.
There is NO practice on Tuesday, July 1 (Canada Day), however, we are holding an extra practice on Wednesday, July 2 at George S Henry Academy rugby pitch (200 Graydon Hall Drive, North York) at 7 pm. This will be Drew’s first practice with the Bucs and I trust all club members will make an effort to be there.
Practice will then be held on Thursday at Sunnybrook Park, as per usual.
Go Bucs!
