BUCS ‘PINK LADIES’ DAY SUCCESS!
Saturday – August 8th, the Buccaneers Rugby Club held the first annual ‘Pink Ladies’ charity match day. On the field, the Bucs hosted two matches, with the Bucs 1st XV taking on the Orillia Dingoes RFC, while the Bucs 2nd XV hosted the Sudbury Stones RFC. To honour the day, the Toronto squad sported pink rugby socks, and Bucs supporters wore pink clothing. The Buccaneers wish to thank all those who attended the day’s events, and in doing so showed their support for the Rethink Breast Cancer charity.
To raise money, the Buccaneers collected donations during the matches, and also held a massive raffle post-match at the Fox & Fiddle (the Bucs’ sponsor pub). Thanks to your support in donating money and buying raffle tickets we were able to raise $1200.00!
The Buccaneers extended enormous gratitude to the parties who were generous enough to provide raffle prizes. In no particular order, they were:
Carlos Navarro for kindly donating the bottles of wine and t-shirts
Huw & Blodwynn Davies for arranging the Canadian Tire & Mc Donalds vouchers
Ryding Regency Meat packers for the donation of $110 worth of NY Striploin
Linda Burkholder who arranged the TSN gear
Toronto Felines for selling food and light refreshments!
Donald Robichaud for donating his time in massage sessions.
Orillia Dingoes RFC for a donation of $100
The club’s expectations were exceeded with the support shown for the cause by those wearing pink clothing, and by donating gifts, time and money. As a club, the Buccaneers RFC extends their gratitude to ruggers Paul Collins and Tim Morton whose hard work made this event possible. The Toronto Buccaneers are proud to support Rethink Breast Cancer and look forward to this annual event for many years to come.
