BUCS 2nds HOST SUDBURY RFC

Saturday, August 8th the Buccaneers RFC 2nd XV hosted the Sudbury Stones RFC.  The Bucs have a long history with the Sudbury club, as the Toronto squad has been a participant in the annual Sudbury Sevens tourney since it's inception.  The Bucs were pleased to finally host Sudbury and certainly appreciate the long drive the Stones ruggers made for the match.

The match itself was lively, hard hitting affair.  The Bucs front row of Jeremy Fine, Jay Evans and Andrew Gourley were solid the entire match.  The Bucs also appreciated the efforts of those Bucs playing in back-to-back games after a physical encounter with Orillia.  The Stones would tie up the match during the final play of the game for a final score of 39 – 39.  Bucs try scorers were Duane Farrell, Jared Cox, Brian Crothers, Aaron Barber and Chris Marshall.  Man of the Match went to Tim Morton who was a threat for the Bucs all over the pitch taking advantage of a rare start on the flank.

The Bucs are proud to successfully field a 2nds side this season in 5 exhibition matches.  With the quality of new players, and, numbers committed to the Toronto club this season, the Buccaneers RFC are excited to be entering a full time 2nd XV team into the Toronto Rugby Union for the 2010 season.
